It's not a tumor!

(said like Arnold Schwarzenegger, of course)

Hello all! I hope everyone’s had a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s!  For me, it’s been nice to see family and friends and spend some time at home (and see The Hobbit with my brother, sister-in-law, and friend)!

Lately, however, I’ve been feeling a bit down and lamenting my poor luck with the whole facial paralysis thing.  I didn’t get the Christmas miracle I hoped for and I would really just like to be better already, for goodness’ sake!  Uggghhh!  C’mon face/nerves/eye!  Let’s work together on this!

In the midst of my frustration, though, I have received some good news.  I had an MRI this week and it revealed that I do not have a tumor in my brain.  Yay!  (The MD in Spain had said I’d need an MRI to rule out that possibility if I wasn’t better by January.) The only problem that the radiologist saw on the scan was the inflamed 7th cranial nerve, which we already knew about.  Whew.  Now, I just have to wait for it to decide not to be inflamed for my face to work again.  Hopefully, God will move the healing process along a bit…. That’d be great.

The next step: I see the eye doctor again on Monday to make sure my eye is still doing well (so far, I’m doing a great job applying the eye goo), and then I’m scheduled to fly back to Spain on Thursday.

Yup, that’s right!  I’m planning to return and just deal with my health issues there.  I saved for 2 years to go on this adventure in Spain and I am determined to at least finish the school year!  Besides, I left ½ my stuff behind when I came home for Christmas, there’s still so much I want to see/do, and my face will be broken whether I stay in the U.S. or go to Spain, so I might as well be broken in Spain.

En fin, to help with the whole feeling down thing, I've compiled another list of thankfuls (though this one is a bit smaller):
  • I don’t have a tumor
  • My eye is not getting worse
  • God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.  (says so in Romans 8:28)
  • Everyone liked their Christmas gifts from Spain
  • I got to build a snowman in Ohio’s first snow of the season
  • I got to see my niece’s first basketball game (she’s 6)
  • I have been able to see my sister’s pregnant self in person (she’s due in April)
  • I have been able to visit with friends and lots of family
  • I got to eat plenty of Peppermint Stick ice cream
  • I liked The Hobbit
  • Kristen Stewart didn't ruin Snow White and the Huntsman
  • The world did not end in a Mayan zombie apocalypse

That’s all for now folks.

Hasta pronto!
