Happy Father's Day!

Well, it’s Father’s Day and I’m still in Spain.  So, it’s Dad’s turn for a blog post J

  • My dad is a teacher.  Throughout my life he’s taught me so many things, including how to throw a baseball, to drive a tractor (almost ran him over), to laugh at myself, to hang Christmas lights (especially on the Christmas tree), to be brave and strong, to have faith, to fish (even though it bores him), to forgive, to change the oil in my car, and to drive a manual-shift car, among other things.  I am so grateful that my dad has taken the time to be an instructor and example to me.  Guiding me in life and making me feel valued and important by giving me his time and attention… just some of the things he’s done right.  Thanks Dad!
  • Like my Mom, my dad is also there for me and involved in what I am doing.  He went with me to Father-Daughter dances during Girl Scouts, and he came to every game and competition that he could when I was older.  He was there for many long weekends during colorguard and he was there for any late games and weekend double-headers in softball.  He helped me move in at college and once spent hours with me trying to put together a ridiculously stubborn desk. I am so grateful that my dad has always been there for me and been involved.  Being interested and present in my life… some more of what he’s done right.  Thanks Dad!

  •  My dad is proud of me.  How do I know?  He brags about me, he has paraphernalia from all my high school sports teams, he has pictures of me and my siblings all over his office, I see it in his face when I look at him, and I hear it when he tells me.  I am so grateful that my dad is always there to remind me what I’ve done right or done well and that he’s always ready to defend me and my talents (no matter how small) to anyone!  Building my confidence and self-assurance, some more of the things he’s done right.  Thanks Dad!
  • My dad loves me… like, a lot!  He tells me so all the time, is always offering his support or a listening ear, he gives me the BEST hugs, calls me “beautiful,” and rushes to help whenever I need him.  I am grateful that my father’s love is unquestionable.  Making it clear that I am precious and loved, and demonstrating the Almighty Father’s unconditional love for me through his own are more things my dad’s done right.  Thanks Dad!

  • My dad supports me.  When I needed to practice my overhand serve in order to make the volleyball team in junior high, my dad was there, practicing with me… for hours.  When I didn’t make the team anyway, he was there to comfort me and be mad at the coaches. J When I needed to practice pitching for softball, he was my catcher… even though I knocked him off the bucket he was sitting on… oops, sorry dad!  When I decided on a college major, when I decided to move to Spain, when I decided to go back to school, he was with me 100%.  Supporting me in my goals and trusting me in my decisions… some more things my dad’s done right.  Thanks Dad!

Again, I could go on and on and on about the things my dad’s done for me… but I don’t have enough time or words to express it all.  As you can tell, I have one AMAZING father.  He is loving, strong, brave, supportive, caring, funny, and simply SUPERB!  I love my dad so much and I’m so thankful that he’s all mine (… and my brother’s and my sister’s, but whatever J)!

I love you Dad!  I’ll be home soon!
