Hola!
It’s been awhile! :) I hope you’re all doing well so far in
2013! My 2013 has been quite full so far…
After one last checkup from my eye doctor (p.s. everyone
should see Dr. Mehan of Mehan Eye
if you’re in the area and need an ophthalmologist), I had the ok to go back to
Spain… as long as I kept taking good care of my eye and seeing an eye doctor
every week or so.
So, I returned to Spain on the 11th of January
and went back to work at my school that next Monday, the 14th. It was nice to be back, though I was feeling a
bit culture shocked. My first weekend in
Seville was a bit rough… My face was
still pretty bad, I was super jet-lagged, and my apartment was quite empty
(roommates having adventures). So, I
went back to the school on Monday feeling a bit down. L Boo.
Thankfully, however, getting back to work lifted my spirits
quite a bit. In each class, after we explained
to the students what was wrong with my face (because they would obviously be
wondering otherwise) one or more of them inevitably told me that they’d missed
me and that I was still guapa (lovely).
Aww. J It was good to be back. It was also nice just to have something to do.
In addition to the joy of being back amongst the little
monsters at my school, I’ve met two very nice young ladies from Lithuania who came
to do an English teaching practice at the school. Dovile stayed for about a month while Monika will
be staying for about 3 months. We have
had many chances to chat and get to know each other and it’s been nice to
relate to people who are having the same kind of experience (teaching abroad)
as I am having and at my same school.
Plus, now I know that someday I want to visit them in Lithuania. J

In other news, I have 2 new roommates. Giacomo, my Italian roommate, returned to Rome
this weekend and was replaced by Yusuf from Istanbul, Turkey, and Martin, my
French roommate, moved out for a place with less noise and was replaced by James
from New Mexico, USA. So far, they’re
both pretty cool.
As far as my health is concerned, as the weeks have passed and we’ve
gone from January to February (time flies!), I have slowly gotten better and
better emotionally and physically. The
culture shock has mostly worn away, my smile is coming back, I can close my
left eye (still waiting for blinking to be a part of my life again though), and
I’ve been enjoying my friends here in Spain.
Things are looking up!

And finally, I’ve also been able to take a few weekend trips
to different areas of Spain since I’ve been back. So, I’ve included some pictures below of one trip for
your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!:
